Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010
At a press conference February 3, 2010, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Senator Dorgan (D-North Dakota) announced that they would be introducing legislation (Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010) that would amend the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) to give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) additional powers over retailers and suppliers in the dietary supplements industry.

Update March 10th
In a letter from Senator Hatch to Senator McCain we believe that he is withdrawing his support of his bill. We have not heard this from McCain yet, nor have we heard from Senator Dorgan. Thanks to your efforts, and others associated with the natural foods industry, we have been responsible for over 18,000 emails to Senator McCain on this issue! Using the links above, please continue to contact Senator's McCain and Dorgan, in addition to your own, like Webb and Warner here in Virginia.

Update March 11th - Victory
"Industry champions Hatch and Harkin have reached an agreement with McCain and Dorgan on reasonable measures to strengthen the regulation of dietary supplements without opening up DSHEA. Industry advocates should continue to let their senators know their opposition to S. 3002 in order to dissuade other senators or representatives from taking it up."-John Gay, CEO, NPA
